An American Boy Scout detachment visiting Kawasaki City visited City Hall today.
The 16-member exchange detachment from Baltimore, USA, Kawasaki's sister city, visited City Hall with about 40 members of the Boy Scouts of Japan Kawasaki District. The group handed Mayor Fukuda a personal letter from the Mayor of Baltimore.
This exchange began as a result of the partnership between the two cities and marks its 40th anniversary this year. A member of the Boy Scouts of Japan said: "We hope that people from overseas will broaden their horizons through cultural exchange with people from Japan."
Baltimore City Exchange detachment leader Christina Graff said: "We're going to climb Mount Fuji tomorrow. Some of us have climbed it before, and some are doing it for the first time. The most important thing is to deepen the exchange between Japanese and American scouts."
